Lesson 13 - Meditative Music
Some higher music reflects aspects of
the Divine.
Many people hear music when they are in higher states of consciousness. This is because music is one of the media’s that potentially can reflect enough truth to be able to reflect the Divine
The description of the aura tells us that we harbour a spark of God in ourselves.
The law of resonance therefore means that higher music directly can activate this spark, create experiences, longing or - bliss -.
This experience happens if the resistance in the mind is weaker than the pull from the music.
Music of this quality can be used in approaches to development that are beyond therapy.
We will here mention two ways:
Working with keywords of Dharma
Working with higher symbols
Dharma
An approach to self development that is radically different from the therapeutic tradition is that of Dharma.
In essence it says that If we act in accordance with right living, if our lives please God, we will live a good life.
Thus, all our miseries is a result of transgressions against Dharma from this or another lifetime.
If we therefore, faced with life as it is, has the integrity and strength that some years of self development can give, maybe a next step would be to say -
All right, if I mirror my life in key words of Dharma,
how is the score.
Some distance from Right living
Seeing that in a particular area our deeds are some distance from Right living, we know where to start working, if we want to live a spiritual life, if we want to please God, and if we want to get beyond the challenges the distance creates.
Most religions have their own beautiful and deep set of key words of Dharma.
Dharma as a tool
A way of using Dharma as a tool would then be first to determine which tradition speaks to oneself.
Having determined which set of key words to use, a possible next step could be:
Meditate on reality, how is your life going?
Maybe choose one or a couple of the most hot issues
Again tune in to Dharma in you chosen description, where is there a distance between your hot issue the key words - sit with this - sit - sit..
Sometimes the alchemical approach (‘sit - sit, wittiness, but do nothing’-) is too difficult, or simply not the right approach, normal counselling, hot chair etc. can be of immense value here.
Once again this process can be greatly enhanced by the use of appropriate music , and pictures, of for example enlightened Masters, a Yantra, or of the zodiac.
The eight ways of Dharma according to Mahabarata
Sacrifice
Self study
Asceticism
Giving
Truth
Forgiveness
Compassion
Contentment
Buddha’s four noble truth’s
What are these four noble truths? The noble truth of suffering, the noble truth of the cause of suffering and the noble truth of the cessation of suffering, and the noble truth of the path which leads to the cessation of suffering.

The word of the Buddha
Buddha’s eight-fold way
Right Understanding
Right resolve
Right Speech
Right Acts
Right Livelihood
Right Effort
Right Mindfulness
Right Concentration
Patanjali’s eightfold Path
The RAJA yoga or ASTANGA yoga described by Patanjali has 8 stages:
Yama: Abstention from evil conduct
Niyama: Virtuous conduct
Asana: Physical posture
Pranayama: Regulation of breath
Pratyahara: Withdrawal of the senses
Dharana: Concentration
Dhyana: Meditation
Samadhi: Union of subject and object
Christ describes Dharma in his parables,
maybe most beautiful in The Sermon on the Mount
The Beatitudes
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew chapter 5
Working with keywords of Dharma
Examples:
Truthfulness
(Take care, this is a powerful exercise!) Centre yourself, feel your heart.
Every time you hear the gongs – imagine the sound says "truthfulness"
listen to the answer!
Music: for example Jens Zygar Klangraume

Working with the cosmic pictures
For example the zodiac: Look at the zodiac and at the same time imagine the whole zodiac inside your heart
(For bigger picture to meditate on, see our online healing or zodiac meditation)
Music:
Johannes Ockeghem Deo Gratias
Arvo Paart The Beatitudes
Handel’s Halleluja
Henryk Gorecki Amen
Remember
Spiritual living is not seeking experiences,
all that matters is to please God
