Lesson 9 - Music, the Aura and the Chakras

Vibration, energy field or aura
There are two seemingly opposite ways we can look at
an energy field or an aura

Either we can start from the fact or belief that everything originates in God, that there is a original unity, that all there is have retained more or less of the connection with this original unity
OR we can start from the observable fact that we have a physical body, and look at what else we have got, including the fact or belief that we connect with God somehow.

Starting from the physical leads to a description of auric layers of a more and more spiritual nature.
Starting from the unity with God and moving towards the physical leads to a description of the original divine being encapsulated in sheaths increasingly alienating us from the divine .

The world can be described as evolving from God through the stages of creation including the manifestation as matter
- or from matter to God

Sheath’s or koshas - screens of delusion.

The stages of being that are separate from God are referred to in yoga as Sheath’s or koshas - screens of delusion.

All creation is encased in one or more of five koshas. These are screens of delusion, each of which, in descending order, obscures to a greater degree the real cause and essence of all creation, God.

The five koshas are
1.The bliss sheath;
2.The intellect or discriminative sheath;
3.The sheath of the mind, manas;
4.The life sheath or prana and
5.Gross matter.

The bliss sheath is that which covers and causes
the causal world and body of man.

The three sheath’s of intellect, mind, and life are the coverings of the astral universe and body of man. The matter sheath manifests as the physical universe and body of man.

Edited from Bhagavad Gita translated by Paramahansa Yogananda p. 62 - 63

The world can be described as evolving from God through the stages of creation including the manifestation as matter - or from matter to God

If we start from the body and work our way out in the aura, the picture we get is one of increasingly spiritual vibration, the further out
(the closer to God) we go.

The aura as seen from the physical and out,
is generally divided up as follows:

physical
etheric
astral
mental
spiritual
cosmic
nirvanic

If our focus is on the unfoldment of the
body-identified person, going from the body and out
is a most relevant description.

It is the model that easiest links our ordinary way of thinking and experiencing, to dreams and to most western approaches to personal and spiritual development, and we will use this model in the following

If our focus is on Dharma, our inherent Godliness, going from God and in towards the physical is the most relevant description.

Remember, both models describe

the same thing!

The two systems
are corresponding to each other as follows:

Yogananda

physical
pranic
mind
intellect
bliss

Osho
physical
etheric
astral
mental
spiritual
cosmic
nirvanic

The way we perceive another persons aura
or energy field depends on several factors:

  1. The training of the seer or healer. The aura will be perceived different according to the training and form of meditation that the seer has used.

  2. The way the aura is seen depends on the degree of interference or contact between the involved parties, healer and client.

  3. The appearance of the aura is finally also dependent on the state of development and training of the observed person.

Edited from Jes Bertelsen: Energy and Consciousness

We do not recommend that you focus on music
as a means to see aura

Use music to grow, to take the next step, not to fascinate.
In the context of aura and chakras, it means that we do not focus on music
as means to see the aura, but as means to be in the aura

Music is a powerful aid to expand the awareness into the aura, but it is difficult to generalise, the effect of the music depends on the attitude and general openness of the listeners, their spiritual beliefs and so on.

An instruction could be: Feel your spine, feel your bum on the seat, feel your feet on the floor. Gradually, imagine that every time you breate out, your awareness expands out through your body, out beyond your body. Every time you breathe in, you come back to your spine.
Be aware to keep your breathing deep and slow.

Examples on good music to expand into the aura with:
David Hykes: Hearing Solar Winds
Claus Weise: Klangshalle
Jens Zygar Klangraume
Rudra Veena
Palestrina Ave Maria
Hildegard of Bingen for example A feather on the Breath of God

The human aura has layers,
but it also have organs among them the chakras

We work with the commonly accepted seven chakras:

image

Root chakra: At the base of the spine
Hara chakra: 4 fingers below the navel
Solar Plexus: At the sternum
Heart: Approximately 15 cm below throat
Throat: -At the throat
3’ eye: Between or slightly above the eyebrows
Crown: At the fontanel

In the root chakra the rhythm is slower than it is in hara,
hara is slower than solar plexus, etc.

The physical
is associated with the root chakra,
The etheric with hara
The astral with solar plexus
The mental with the heart
The spiritual with the three upper chakras

There are music that go directly to particular chakras, and there are music that claim to do that.

Genuine music is for example the tantric master Osho’s.

Examples of music that bring us to the chakras:
Chakra Breathing
Chakra Sounds
Overton Chakra Meditation
Some of Bach’s fuges balance the chakra system
Example: Prelude and fugue BWV 543. Or BWV 545 and 546.

Remember when you listen to peoples experiences:

It is relatively easy to get a high experience, maybe such an experience is nice, but it may be relatively unimportant. The important distinguishing is if this experience boosts your ego or helps you to grow!

Listen to the music
Be aware of your physical reactions,
when and how they change:

Breathing
Body posture
Tensions
Aces and pains
Numbness

Be aware of your psychological reactions
when and how they change:
Basic mood before the music
Shifting moods during the music
Memories
Images
Thoughts
Level of creativity
