Energy-movement and Tarot

The many levels of energy-movement from God to matter is excellent illustrated in the Quabbalah, These levels will in the astral aura be perceived as images. These images will have a universal, archetypical content, because they reflect the universalities of what constitutes the human make-up.

The original 22 major arcana tarot cards in a crude way depicts these universal images

The 22 illustrations on a major arkana tarot deck are of course an artist’s impression and generalisation of the images, of which each of us have our own inner individualised designs, often showing up in dreams. The energy in the paths, between the various Sephirots in the Tree of Life, is at the same time the basic building blocks leading creation from the unmanifested divine to the physical and vice versa, and so describing a model of personal and spiritual development.

The zodiac, planets and tarot affect us on different levels of our being.

Tarot used in combination with the Cosmic cards, and the contemplations connected to the cards, combine to form a powerful tool of transformation, utilizing energies from the higher order or Dharma embedded in the cosmos. The Star signs in the zodiac and the planets are, as the Major arcana Tarot, archetypes; parts of our blue-print and part of the formative forces that caused us to be who we are.
They interact with us in different ways, roughly describable in this way:
Tarot is relating to the astral-emotional level, and is thus closer to our everyday consciousness.
The reflections or resonance of the twelve signs of the zodiac can be found in the border-area between the bliss-sheath and the discriminative sheath in the higher astral aura.
Working with the cosmos, primarily the zodiac, the 12 star signs and the planets in our solar system as a path of personal and spiritual growth, means that we endeavour to become more attuned to our own blueprint - with the eternal laws and higher qualities within our own being. One can say that the zodiac represents the totality of what we have at our disposal; in computer language this is our “hardware” Similarly the planets can be described as our “software” the personal “programming” our character, that helps or impairs our ability to express our innate qualities.
When we are attuning ourselves with the truth, harmony, and creative power originally embedded in our being via these high archetypes, long-lasting transformation and changes in our relationship with ourselves and our life’s events may happen.

Behind the cosmic pictures and exercises is an appreciation of the wisdom apparent in Rudolf Steiner’s teaching, together with aspects of western astrology and the Vedic astrology from the East, Jyotish.
The solar system with its planets starts here with the Earth, and then comes the Moon, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The out most planet, Pluto, is excluded, because only computer images and no real photos of the planet exist so far.
Pluto is also excluded because it is not necessarily constructive to work with the lower astral realms at this stage in human evolution. Pluto rules the underworld, which could be translated as anything that pulls us down, roughly the same as the lower astral.

How to use the pictures

We ask you to organise the tarot-cosmic-cards spread in a mandala, and this mandala in its totality is a very worthwhile object for contemplation. Try not to analyse, let your mind be affected by the images, do not understand, just be present, attentive, absorbing.

The procedure:

Check that all zodiac signs and planets are there divided in two piles. (NB: The 4 mental-healing cards are not used here,and put aside) Check that all the major arcana cards are there in both sets.
Ask your client to from their own intuition or feeling, not from intellect.

1. Choose which tarot card deck to use.

2. Choose 1 Cosmic card, among the zodiacal cards

3. Choose 3 major arcana Tarot cards

4. Choose 4 cosmic cards among the planets

Always perform this with the cards with their backs up.
The law of syncronicity, as applied to this way of choosing the cards will give you an indication of
The most important issue at the moment (the first card, the zodiacal sign, the centre-card in the 1-3-4 mandala)
The emotional-astral balance (the three Tarot cards, the triangle in the mandala)
Our connection to the physical reality, our grounding. (The four planet-cards, the square in the mandala).

 

While the cards are being chosen

Ask the client to place the cards on a table,
at first with the back up, according to the above illustration
Instruct the client to have the cards in the right position for the client to read, not what may be practical for the counsellor.

1. The first card, the zodiac is placed in the middle

2. The three tarot-cards are placed in a triangle, starting above the zodiac-card, then to the right, below the card, lastly to the left.

3. Lastly the four planet-cards are placed as follows: First selection to the right below the centre-card, second selection to the left, third selection above the centre card to the left. The fourth selection above the centre card to the right.

When all cards are selected, then ask the client to turn them face-up

Then contemplate the chosen cards, using the instructions given below. Do not interpret the cards. . The understanding we have given you of the two decks is meant to be given also to clients if they have the need to also understand the cards intellectually, but take care that you do not end up in analysing and psychotherapy, make the whole process contemplative!
The technique is using reference points like connect with your entire being, your spine, your heart or your 3’ eye
All these points can be used, and are widely used in the different meditative schools and world religions.

Double-poled awareness

Focus your gaze in a relaxed way on the mandala, at the same time as you in your minds eye connect with your entire being, your spine, your heart or your 3’ eye it relates to, and ponder the contemplation that belongs to it. This is called double-poled awareness, and is a classical technique to enhance meditation (used in the western spiritual traditions for example on Christian Icon’s, in the east for example on mandalas of deities, the Thangka’s)
The idea is that when the two directions of thought - towards the image and towards for example the reference point in your body, when these two directions are of equal strength, a qualitative leap will happen. The mind will be suspended and a meditative state is experienced. This will most likely happen only in fractions of a second at a time, with the normal mind taking over in between.
If practically possible, it is a good idea to suggest to the client that he or she continue the contemplations at home. We have developed a software that printout the mandala and the contemplations, and at the same time provide a record of the choices for the practitioner.
